Dear God, help me to stop living a performative life.
Help me to stop doing things just to be seen, noticed, praised, accepted, or approved by people. Search my heart and show me the places where I have been more concerned about how I look before people than how I look before You.
I do not want to pray just to appear spiritual. I do not want to serve just to be recognized. I do not want to give just so people can know that I gave. I do not want to help others because I am looking for appreciation in return. I do not want to post good things just to build an image of myself. I do not want to speak about You simply because I want people to think I am spiritual. I do not want to do good things so that people will applaud me.
Lord, I do not want my life to become a performance.
Teach me to do what is right even when nobody is watching. Teach me to serve when there is no recognition, to give when nobody knows, to pray when there is no audience, and to remain faithful when there is no applause.
Deliver me from the fear of what people will think about me. Deliver me from constantly seeking approval, validation, compliments, likes, comments, recognition, and acceptance. I do not want the opinions of people to become the measure of my worth or the direction of my life.
Help me to remember that You see what people cannot see. You know my heart, my motives, my struggles, and the things I do in secret. Let Your approval become more important to me than the approval of people.
God, I surrender my image to You. I surrender my reputation, my desire to be noticed, my need to prove myself, and my need to impress others. I do not want to spend my life trying to convince people that I am something. I simply want to become who You have called me to be.
Lead me. Teach me. Correct me when my motives are wrong. Give me the courage to do what You are asking me to do, even when people misunderstand me, overlook me, criticize me, or do not recognize my efforts.
Let my good works point people to You, not to me. Let my life bring glory to Your name, not become a platform for my own praise.
From today, Lord, help me to live before You rather than perform before people. Help me to look up to You before I look sideways at people. Let my relationship with You be the foundation of how I see myself and how I relate to others.
I do not want applause more than I want Your presence. I do not want recognition more than I want obedience. I do not want to be seen by everyone if I am not walking faithfully with You.
Lead me into a life that is genuine, humble, obedient, and pleasing to You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
